    AltGen is working with one of South Africa’s fastest growing Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS) manufacturers who have burst into the South African market and are exceedingly even their own expectations. This electrifying entrance into the market is all thanks to their top-quality products which practically sell themselves. However, with the growing number of clients, they need experienced Business Developers to help grow and maintain their existing client base. Are you a driven professional with passion for sales? Do you possess exceptional communication skills, and have a passion or technical knowledge of the Renewable Energy industry?     If so, then this role is for you! The Business Developer role will join a young and exciting company who are providing the South African and African markets with Tier 1 Energy Storage Solutions. Our client is seeking an enthusiastic individual, based in Cape Town, to join their team and help develop new clients as well as manage existing relationships.

    As a Business Development professional, you will serve as a vital link facilitating sales through existing channel partners to offer exceptional value and top-quality products on each potential project, utilising your technical expertise to effectively communicate the unique advantages of their offerings to potential clients. From conducting comprehensive market research to delivering impactful product presentations, you will be instrumental in contributing to ongoing success and growth.

    The ideal candidate has over 3 years of experience in the Renewable Energy industry and has 2 years of direct experience with BESS and HV batteries technologies – able to communicate effectively with engineers from EPCs through to procurement teams at supply and distribution firms. You should have a proven track record of your sales and creating tailored strategies that effectively address diverse customer needs.

    Your industry experience will allow you to offer valuable insights and make meaningful contributions to prospective clients and their projects and product portfolios. You will be required to call on your customers and service their needs as well as negotiating all contracts with prospective clients. You will furthermore help determine pricing for proposals, and quotes for prospective clients. As well as be responsible for documenting and maintaining accurate records of client interactions, technical information, and relaying this information in weekly and monthly reports. An important aspect of the role is to stay up to date with the latest industry trends and attending conferences and reading publications.

    Education Requirements

    • Minimum of National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)

    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in sales/Business Development
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Renewable Energy Industry

    Responsibilities

    In the role of a Business Development professional you will be responsible for maintaining and fostering existing key account relationships as well as gaining and developing new customers. You will be reporting these client interactions by writing and submitting periodical sales reports. There will be the expectation that you meet or exceed the sales goals set out for you by developing the existing key accounts as well as gaining new customers. You will be responsible for the negotiations with new clients as well as determining the pricing schedules for quotes, promotions and negotiations with both new and existing clients. You will need to understand the company’s products and promotions to ensure you are able to accurately evaluate the needs of potential customers or promote products and services.
