Electrician – Solar PV – Cape Town

As an Electrician, with a Red Seal qualification, you will be responsible for ensuring that all the solar PV systems that are installed are done according to the specifications and comply with regulations.
You will also conduct testing and commissioning activities, utilizing specialized tools and equipment to measure electrical parameters, diagnose faults, and ensure compliance with system specifications. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in documenting all installation, maintenance, and repair activities, preparing detailed reports on system performance, and providing recommendations for improvements and upgrades.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program
• Red Seal qualified
• Valid 3-phase wireman’s license as approved by the Department of Labour

• Proven experience as an electrician, with a focus on solar PV installations
• Familiarity with residential and commercial electrical systems
• Experience with issuing certificate of compliance (COC) for a minimum of one (1) year
• Experience in construction, engineering, or energy sectors is highly desirable
• In-depth knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and their applications in solar installations
• Familiarity with solar panel installation practices, wiring methods, and industry standards
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

As an integral part of our team, your responsibilities will include the installation and wiring of solar panels, inverters, batteries, and associated electrical components. You will follow wiring diagrams and manufacturer guidelines to connect and route wiring, ensuring efficient power distribution, particularly in three-phase systems.
Maintenance and repair tasks will be a crucial aspect of your role, involving routine inspections, troubleshooting, and the identification and resolution of electrical issues. Adhering to all safety regulations and industry standards, you will utilize proper lockout procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment.
Collaboration and effective communication are key components of this role, as you will coordinate with team members, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of projects.
