In this role, you'll be the backbone of grid compliance, providing essential support to technical teams and site-based personnel. Your responsibilities will encompass grid capacity assessments, MV and HV connection designs, and overseeing the implementation of grid connection works. Your technical expertise will ensure renewable energy plants seamlessly integrate into the national grid while adhering to compliance and performance standards.

Our ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in power systems, grid studies, or renewable energy grid connections. Proven expertise in simulation tools like DIgSILENT, PSSE, and PSCAD as well as a deep understanding of South African Grid Codes. You will serve as the go-to person for primary and secondary plant support including Transformation, Protection, Switching, Voltage Support, Power Quality, and more. Your expertise does not end there, you have a strong commercial acumen, providing support on defects claims, curtailment disputes, and end-of-warranty processes.

• Sc. Eng or B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering
• ECSA registration is highly advantageous

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role

• Ensure Grid Code Compliance: Deliver support to ensure grid code compliance across all operational assets, working closely with NSP, RETEC, LTAs, and NERSA
• Grid Monitoring: Implement and maintain grid monitoring systems, analysing data to identify trends and address potential risks
• Support Technical Projects: Provide technical guidance to teams, identifying gaps and defining project scopes with stakeholders. Assist with engineering improvement initiatives, ensuring optimal performance of systems and processes
• Enhance Operational Asset Performance: Perform Facility Power Curve updates and support processes related to system events and deemed energy claims
• Technical Support: Manage substation automation systems, ensuring accurate documentation, configuration, and system standards
• Manage Techno/Commercial Activities: Address technical and commercial issues, including defect claims, curtailment disputes, and end-of-warranty processes
• Drive Business Development: Support new and existing projects through technical input, feasibility assessments, and site visits
• Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the line manager, in alignment with the role's objectives
