We’re looking for a Junior Design/Project Engineer equipped with a BEng, Electrical Engineer degree (from a prestigious university in South Africa).  Someone with 2 years of experience in solar PV design in commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects, ready to join a trailblazer in the solar industry!

• BEng in Electrical Engineering

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in solar PV system design, installation, and commissioning (residential and C&I projects preferred)
• Experience with fault finding and troubleshooting in solar PV systems
• Expertise in designing and optimising solar PV systems using AutoCAD, HelioScope, and PV*SOL
• Electrical codes knowledge – understanding of local electrical codes and industry standards

• Solar System Design: Create solar PV system designs based on client needs, site conditions, and energy efficiency, ensuring cost-effective solutions for residential, commercial, and agricultural projects
• Component Selection: Select appropriate solar components (inverters, panels, batteries) based on site requirements and technical specifications. Prepare clear design documentation, including electrical schematics and system diagrams
• Site Assessments: Conduct on-site evaluations to assess technical feasibility and identify potential challenges. Provide technical support during site visits to ensure practical implementation of designs
• System Commissioning: Oversee and perform system commissioning, both on-site and remotely, ensuring systems meet performance standards and design specifications
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues in solar systems, including inverters, wiring, and batteries, providing both on-site and remote support
• Client Communication: Present solar designs to clients, explaining system functionality and benefits. Work with the sales team to communicate key features of proposed solar solutions
• Innovation and Research: Stay updated on new solar technologies and integrate innovative solutions to improve system efficiency and competitiveness
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet local electrical codes, regulations, and industry best practices
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with operations and installation teams to ensure design accuracy and provide on-site support during installation
• Continuous Improvement: Review and enhance design processes to improve system performance, installation efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
• Documentation: Maintain organised records of design documentation, system performance assessments, and as-built drawings
• Training: Train installation teams on interpreting designs and technical specifications, keeping up with new design tools and software
