Are you a Legal Advisor with 7+ years of experience in a private law firm and a post-graduate qualification in business law? Do you have experience working in the renewable energy sector negotiating major contracts?

Based in Cape Town, this role would see you responsible for offering legal counsel in support of diverse wind and solar enterprises. This role specifically involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams responsible for overseeing the development, investment, construction, and operation of primarily IPP initiatives.

Our client operates in a context marked by the constant emergence of numerous large-scale global commercial, technical, and industrial developments. This high-stakes environment necessitates strong legal support meaning you will always need to be at the top of your game. A double law qualification in this context would mark you as a cut above the rest.

In this role, you would be tasked with the drafting and negotiating of a broad spectrum of contracts, spanning confidentiality agreements, letters of intent, memoranda of understanding, partnership agreements, EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and the acquisition and sale of assets. Your active participation in the negotiation process for these contracts would be a key aspect of your role.

Your role would involve the preparation of legal documentation for tender responses in renewable projects and subsequent management of the legal aspects of awarded projects.  You would also play a pivotal role in creating training programs and guidelines for our client’s various operational teams, supported by other law firms and the company headquarters. Strong interpersonal skills are thus essential, as this role requires consistent collaboration with diverse third parties and colleagues in both local and international teams.

Your responsibilities would also include managing any claims and litigation related to the project portfolio and coordinating with the Head of Legal and the Litigation Department at the Headquarters.  Under the guidance of the Head of Legal, you would also be expected to contribute to the implementation and advancement of our client's contractual policy, as well as the standardisation of contractual documents.

Join our client as a Legal Advisor, where your legal acumen will shape the path to a greener future! Anticipate challenges, negotiate contracts, and steer the legal course for cutting-edge projects in our client’s growing South African team.
