Our client is at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution, having successfully completed over 500+ solar plants across Europe and Africa. They are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Fitter with an impressive track record of assembling, installing, and maintaining high-voltage (HV) systems, ranging from 100kV to 400kV. Your ability to work safely and confidently at height will be key as you play a critical part in assembling and maintaining complex HV systems, ensuring the continued success of our client’s projects.

In this role, you will apply your technical skills to ensure the accurate assembly of steel structures, the proper installation of electrical equipment, and the safe management of cables within HV substations. Your expertise in installing high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical components, such as circuit breakers, transformers, and busbars, will be critical. You will ensure that these components are securely mounted, precisely aligned, and fully integrated into the substation infrastructure, contributing to the long-term reliability of the system.

You will also bring extensive experience in air-insulated and gas-insulated switchgear installations, enabling you to confidently assemble, install, and maintain complex high-voltage systems with a deep understanding of electrical integration.

Your meticulous attention to detail will ensure the integrity of all electrical connections, while your proficiency in reviewing and revising technical drawings through red-marking, enables you to effectively identify and highlight necessary changes, corrections, or updates to ensure accuracy and adherence to project specifications.

• Successful completion of an apprenticeship in metalworking, such as training as a metalworker or holding a similar qualification

• Proven experience in reviewing and revising technical drawings, ensuring accuracy, compliance with safety protocols, and readiness for implementation on-site
• Comfortable working at heights of up to 25 meters and proficient in using aerial work platforms
• Expertise in cable pulling, laying, and securing high-voltage and medium-voltage cables, with a strong understanding of the complexities of safely handling and routing cables in both indoor and outdoor substation environments

• Assembly of Steel Structures: Assemble steel structures for switchgear, including both air-insulated and gas-insulated systems, ensuring precise installation according to technical specifications
• High-Voltage and Medium-Voltage Equipment Installation: Install and mount high-voltage and medium-voltage equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and insulators, ensuring proper alignment, stability, and safety
• Cable and Pipe Installation: Perform the installation and secure mounting of cables, pipes, and other electrical components, including cable pulling, to ensure efficient power distribution
• Assembly and Disassembly of Connections: Execute assembly and disassembly of screw and press connections, ensuring secure, high-quality electrical connections for optimal system performance
• Grounding Systems: Install and maintain grounding systems for substations, ensuring all components meet safety standards and provide reliable protection against electrical faults
• Revision of Technical Drawings: Review and revise technical drawings by marking up red lines to reflect on-site changes and ensure the design aligns with actual assembly requirements
• Testing and Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections and testing of all installed systems and components, verifying their functionality and safety before operational handover
• Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure proper implementation of the design, and resolve any technical issues that may arise during installation
• Adherence to Safety Standards: Ensure all activities comply with local and international safety standards, performing routine safety checks, and implementing risk assessments throughout the assembly process
• Project Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of all assembly tasks, including materials used, installation processes, and any adjustments to technical plans, ensuring smooth project management and future maintenance

• Class B Driver's License
