We have an exciting opportunity available for a qualified Mechanical Technician (Fitter) to apply their mechanical expertise to static and rotating mechanical assets with the aim of achieving plant operational targets. This position is based at a Multi-National Company operating in the renewable energy sector at their facility in the Northern Cape. Education Requirements
- Grade 12 or Equivalent (NQF 4) in Mechanical Engineering
Experience Requirements
- Red Seal Certificate
- Valid Driver’s License code C1
- Must be able to perform standby duties during midweek, weekends and on Public Holidays
- Must be able to work after normal working hours, should there be need
- To work shifts on rotational bases all days of the week as will be required
Responsibilities
- Participate in Plant commissioning activities, attend training programme sessions
- Acquaint yourself with HSSE policies and procedures. Enforce HSSE and Quality policies and procedures and ensure that all HSE measures and precautions are strictly considered and applied during the execution of maintenance activities to avoid any activity which might lead to Environment Health and Safety incidents / nonconformities
- Review vendors’ documents, maintenance manuals and spare parts lists.
- Participate in drafting Mechanical maintenance procedures necessary for Plant operations and participate in SAP-PM development and implementation
- Take ownership of plant mechanical equipment and strive to reduce equipment downtime and ensure high Plant availability at a minimum cost
- Execute Mechanical day to-day maintenance activities according to SAP-PM notification and priority set up by Mechanical Supervisor
- Perform troubleshooting activities as necessary along with the Mechanical Supervisor, Maintenance colleagues and Operations, to determine failure causes and rectify defects found.
- Ensure that Contractors have all needed resources and tools to conduct Mechanical maintenance activities effectively and that tasks they perform are properly recorded in SAPPM
- Assists Mechanical Supervisor in preparing and scheduling daily jobs
- Report to Mechanical Supervisor all jobs carried out and record them properly in SAP-PM
- Participate in Plant scheduled shutdowns and turnarounds
- Attend to any emergency situation as a part of the first intervention team
- Operating Company Vehicles and Company Moving Machinery
- Review spare part lists and recommend parts inventory
- Carry out Mechanical routine Inspections, fault finding, breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance as per Schedule
- PTW applications and processing – Ensuring work is executed safely able to do risk assessment on the job
- Able to do alignment on plant equipment including equipment with high voltage motors
- Plant Maintenance on the following equipment:
o with HTF, Sulphuric Acid and other chemicals
o with High Temperatures
o with High pressure steam
o with High compressed air pressure, and
o with compressed Nitrogen
Skills
- Ability to use a Lathe Machine on the PPT will be an added advantage
- Must be able to work at heights
- Teamwork and effective collaboration skills
