Description

Our client is seeking a Performance Engineer to join their project team on a fixed term contract in the Northern Cape. This is your opportunity to join South Africa’s number 1 IPP! If you enjoy liaising with various project stakeholders and have the ability to determine the efficiency of power plant equipment by carrying out tests and inspections, then keep reading!

To be the right person for the job, you need to have an Engineering Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering as well as at least 4 years of experience in OCGT, CCGT, CSP or PV, or coal. It is also important that you have work experience in a performance or process engineering department. To be a successful Performance Engineer, you’ll need good statistical knowledge, an exceptional technical ability, and proficiency with performance monitoring software. As you will find yourself dealing with various stakeholders and project teams, it is vital that you have outstanding interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills – and if you can speak Afrikaans even better! Your responsibilities will include reviewing daily performance and production of the plant to inform necessary stakeholders about the results, supporting the risks and opportunities identification and mitigation process, carrying out design reviews when needed, and conducting feasibility studies for any projects identified or assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Engineering Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Experience Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in CSP, OCGT, CCGT, coal or solar PV
  • Previous work experience in a performance or process engineering department
  • Good statistical knowledge

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include reviewing daily performance and production of the plant to communicate the finding with necessary project stakeholders, supporting the risks and opportunities identification and mitigation process, carrying out design reviews when needed, conduct feasibility studies for any projects identified or assigned, and follow up on the O&M obligations during the final acceptance testing period.
