Our client, a provider of battery storage (BESS) with substantial funding and a passion for renewable energy, is looking for a Permitting Manager to join their team. As our ideal candidate, you have more than 5 years of experience in Environmental Permit applications, consents, and or EIA’s. You have sound knowledge of current Environmental Regulations and have previously been responsible for understanding and managing the permitting process for hazardous materials and fire-related activities.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to environmental permit compliance, technical report writing, project management, EPR / IED Permitting, preparation and delivery of proposals, advising clients, and interpretation of regulatory requirements regarding sector and horizontal guidance.

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from a reputable university?

• At least 5+ years’ appropriate experience in environmental management and/or
  renewable energy development
• Deep understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to renewable energy projects, including zoning, environmental, and permitting requirements
• Experience working collaboratively with engineers, legal teams, project managers, and other professionals involved in renewable energy projects
• Proficient in maintaining detailed records, preparing permit applications, and generating reports for internal and regulatory purposes

• Manage the entire permitting process for solar and wind projects, from the initial application through approval and post-permit compliance. This includes coordinating with various regulatory agencies, such as environmental agencies, local planning departments, and utility companies
• Prepare and submit all required documentation and permit applications. This may involve environmental impact assessments, land use plans, and engineering plans to demonstrate project viability and compliance
• Communicate with various stakeholders, including local communities, environmental organizations, and government officials, to address concerns, gather feedback, and build support for renewable energy projects
• Identify potential permitting risks and challenges early in the project development process and work to mitigate them. This may involve conducting risk assessments related to environmental impact, land use conflicts, or public opposition
• Oversee ongoing compliance with permits and regulations once a project is operational. This may involve conducting site inspections and reporting any non-compliance issues to regulatory agencies

• Strong understanding of both the technical aspects of solar and wind energy systems and the legal and regulatory frameworks governing renewable energy projects
• Effective communication and negotiation skills are also essential to navigate the complex permitting process and build positive relationships with stakeholders
• Ability to multitask and work well under pressure to meet deadlines across multiple projects simultaneously
