Plant Manager – Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) – Pofadder

AltGen is on the hunt for an exceptional CSP Plant Manager to assist our client with the daily management of the Operations & Maintenance of the facility based in the Northern Cape. Our client is a well-known asset management company and responsible for Operations and Maintenance of several of the CSP facilities within energy assets globally positioned in the Renewable Energy Sector in North and South America, Spain, Algeria, and South Africa.

The ideal person for this awesome opportunity will have an engineering and/or industrial background and exhibits phenomenal skills and knowledge in the daily operations and maintenance of a Concentrating Solar Power facility, but more importantly, be a pragmatic leader who enjoys dealing with people!

If you are that person we are looking for, you will find yourself engaged with staff ensuring they are provided with world-class technical support, but as with any great Plant Manager, your role will be to ensure the facility is operated under the highest standards of Health and Safety, with optimum efficiency, applying good utility practices and operated within all applicable laws and regulations, especially within the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). • University Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering (Preferred)
• National Diploma in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering (Ideally)
• Matric Certificate (Grade 12)

• 5 years post qualification operational experience of which at least 3 years should be in a management capacity within Operations & Maintenance of a Concentrated Solar Plant (CSP)
• Experience on International Projects would be an added advantage

The below responsibilities highlight some key performance areas yet are not exhaustive:

• Ensure the work place remains under the highest standards of Health and Safety, maintaining an attractive workplace
• Ensure implementation of effective and economical operating methods and techniques and identify technology changes, which can be implemented to advance the same.
• Submit the Annual Operating Plan and Annual Budget for approval.
• Develop and ensure implementation of plans and procedures to achieve safe operation, optimum availability and operating efficiency of the power plant in respect of the environmental applicable requirements.
• Keep updated guidelines and procedures.
• Ensure and direct implementation of efficient and effective maintenance methods and techniques.
• Encourage team members, provide guidance and promote staff development, develop a highly capable O&M team.
• Analyze and study operating maintenance costs and take necessary measures as required.
• Establish and ensure maintenance of effective monitoring and reporting systems.
• Develop and comply with the H&S, maintenance and operation audit action plans.
• Supervise Department heads and all functions related to plant operations and maintenance activities.

• Professional command of English and Afrikaans with exceptional reading, writing and communication abilities
