Our ideal candidate is a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng/Pr. Tech Eng) equipped with a strong background in solar energy, an essential requirement for this role. The position is available in Cape Town, where you will primarily be responsible for overseeing a team of engineers and overseeing complex and challenging solar projects in and around South Africa. A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the solar industry, with a strong emphasis on managing and overseeing solar energy projects, is typically expected. Experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of solar systems is crucial. You need to have a proven track record of successfully managing projects ranging from 500kW to 5MW, showcasing your adeptness in overseeing substantial and impactful ventures within the industry. Ideally, you should be capable of handling various tasks, from feasibility assessments to troubleshooting on-site.

With your expertise in Electrical Engineering at the Bachelor's or Master's level, you bring to the table a strong foundation regarding the intricacies of the field. • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Eng/Pr. Tech Eng registration

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience as a Project Engineer, including a minimum of 3 years dedicated to engagements within the solar energy sector
• In-depth knowledge of solar energy systems, including photovoltaic technology, solar panel installation, energy storage systems, and power electronics, is essential
• Proficiency in utilising industry-specific software such as Asana, any solar design software, Pipedrive, Freshdesk, and CAD software would be advantageous for design, simulation, and analysis
• A comprehensive understanding of local and international regulations and standards related to solar energy, including building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance, is critical for ensuring the successful implementation of solar projects
• These may include adherence to the regulations set by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) and familiarity with the South African government's Integrated Resource Plan (IRP)
• Specialised expertise in Power Distribution and Power Systems

In this crucial role, you will be tasked with overseeing and directing various aspects of the project, including electrical design, power distribution, and power systems activities throughout the project lifecycle.
