Education Requirements
- An honours degree in Business Science or Commerce with a focus on financial mathematics, accounting, or statistics. A strong desire to transition into the realm of project and infrastructure finance is essential.
Experience Requirements
- 7 years’ experience in M&A, corporate finance, private equity, or project finance.
- Thorough understanding of and ability to present financial principles and processes. Proficient in financial data correlations and analysis.
- Strong technical knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint as well as BI tools (VBA Desirable)
- Independent ability to work and innovative thinking used in problem solving situations.
- International experience with emerging markets or throughout Africa is advantageous.
Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities for this role encompass a diverse range of critical tasks. Firstly, you will be tasked with providing invaluable financial advisory services to a broad spectrum of private and public entities, with a predominant focus on project finance projects and corporate finance transactions. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in advising on aspects such as commercial structuring, feasibility, and project bankability.
Furthermore, you will spearhead the management of a multi-disciplinary transaction advisory team, which will include technical, legal, financial, and empowerment advisors, as you guide them through the intricacies of various project finance projects. Your role will also involve the meticulous performance of risk assessments, involving the identification, quantification, and formulation of strategies to reduce, transfer, or mitigate project-specific risks.
Another critical aspect of your responsibilities will involve preparing comprehensive reports related to the transactions. This will encompass the compilation of feasibility study outcomes and evaluation results, which will be pivotal in informing critical decision-making processes. Additionally, you will actively participate in the negotiation and marking up of various legal agreements, supported by external legal advisors, thereby ensuring the seamless progression of transactions.
Your role will also require you to be a proficient communicator, as you will be responsible for presenting investment proposals, feasibility outcomes, and negotiation outcomes to various stakeholders, including committees, sponsors, lenders, and more. This communication extends to collaborating with the internal financial modelling team to develop and interpret project finance models, conducting in-depth analyses of various transactions under consideration, and preparing all related documents and presentations.
Moreover, you will be a key player in the process of arranging finance for diverse projects, both in debt and equity markets. This entails engaging with rating agencies, interfacing with a variety of lenders, including commercial lenders and development finance institutions, and liaising with multiple shareholders to secure financial support.
You will play a leading role in the due diligence process of a variety of projects, backed by external advisors with expertise in areas such as legal, technical, and empowerment. This process is vital in ensuring that projects are meticulously examined and prepared for execution.
In addition to these responsibilities, you will be instrumental in coordinating the transaction advisory team, ensuring that projects move smoothly toward execution and closure. You will also contribute significantly to the development of the Company's financial advisory and commercial project management competencies.
Beyond your core responsibilities, you will be actively involved in business development and tenders, with the primary goal of establishing a robust pipeline of projects and opportunities. Your versatility will also be evident as you assist in general project management as needed, reflecting your commitment to the diverse demands of this dynamic role.
