Wind Resource Analyst – Wind – Dubai

We’re on the hunt for a Wind Resource Analyst to join our client, a leading international IPP that is leading the digital energy revolution in South Africa.  If you’re passionate about designing renewable energy projects and want to take on a role that lets you shape South Africa’s clean energy future, keep reading.

You’ll need 4+ years of experience in a design engineer or related role with a proven ability to support early-stage wind project development through to commissioning. You will have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning and execution of cutting-edge wind measurement campaigns that deliver bankable EYAs. You will prepare high-quality wind data and conduct wind flow modeling that will drive project development.

Additionally, your experience with on-site project investigations and assessments has equipped you to deliver optimised designs that enhance operational performance. Previous experience working for a multi-national entity will give you brownie points.

Your technical mastery includes Openwind, WindoGrapher, WAsP, and WindPro. Your creative and analytical approach to problem-solving sees you developing innovative and highly detailed designs.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or mechatronic engineering

• 4+ years in a similar role or related role in the renewable energy industry
• Design or engineering experience in the renewable energy industry
• Skilled use of AutoCAD, WindoGrapher, WAsP, WindPro, etc.

• Early-Stage Project Development: Assist with conceptual designs and initial technical planning for new wind power projects
• Document Review: Analyse project documents to identify critical deliverables, technical requirements, and potential risks
• Site Evaluations: Conduct site visits to collect data, assess risks, and identify opportunities for project optimisation
• Wind Data Management: Prepare and review RFPs for met mast installations, oversee wind data collection, and manage data quality
• Wind Monitoring Campaigns: Support the Wind Design Manager in planning and executing wind measurement campaigns for bankable Energy Yield Assessment (EYA) studies
• Site Investigations: Coordinate site investigation studies with external consultants
• Wind Modelling: Prepare wind data and conduct both preliminary and detailed wind flow modeling to guide project development
• Technical Support: Assist with project planning, turbine (OEM/WTG) selection, and design optimisation to meet budget and performance goal
• Design Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to create optimised wind farm layouts, including energy-maximising designs and cost-effective electrical networks
• Feasibility Studies: Conduct technical assessments, feasibility analyses, and energy yield predictions to ensure optimal project performance
• Technology Updates: Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in wind energy to enhance project outcomes
• Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with consultants, contractors, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs and projects adhere to relevant codes, standards, and permitting requirements
• Performance Monitoring: Engage with third-party providers for operational monitoring and performance analysis, supporting asset managers in implementing performance enhancements
