Cookies & Website Analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, understand website traffic, improve user experience, and support marketing or analytics activities.
Essential cookies are necessary for the website to function. Non-essential cookies, including analytics or marketing cookies, will only be used where permitted by law and, where required, with your consent.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings or through any cookie preference tool made available on the website. Disabling certain cookies may affect website functionality.
Cross-Border Transfers
Because AltGen operates internationally and works with clients, candidates, suppliers and service providers in different countries, personal information may be transferred outside South Africa, the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area where necessary for recruitment, Employer of Record services, payroll, immigration, client management, business administration, hosting or legal compliance purposes.
Where personal information is transferred cross-border, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place. These may include contractual safeguards, data processing agreements, standard contractual clauses where applicable, or other measures required under POPIA, GDPR or other applicable data protection laws.
Retention of Personal Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Retention periods may differ depending on the nature of the information, but generally:
website enquiries and client communications are retained for as long as required to respond to the enquiry, manage the relationship and maintain appropriate business records;
candidate and recruitment information may be retained for current and future opportunities, unless you ask us to delete it and we are not legally required or entitled to retain it;
successful placement, employee, payroll, tax, immigration and Employer of Record records may be retained for the applicable statutory recordkeeping period and for as long as needed to manage legal, contractual, audit or dispute-related obligations;
marketing records are retained until you unsubscribe, withdraw consent, or we no longer have a lawful basis to retain them; and
technical and analytics data is retained according to the settings of the relevant website, hosting, analytics or security tools.
When personal information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to delete, destroy, de-identify or securely archive it.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:
request access to the personal information we hold about you;
request correction or updating of inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information;
request deletion or destruction of personal information where legally permitted;
object to certain processing activities;
withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
request restriction of processing in certain circumstances;
request portability of your personal information where GDPR applies;
object to direct marketing; and
lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority.
We may need to verify your identity before actioning a request. We will respond to requests within the time required by applicable law.
Automated Decision-Making
We may use recruitment systems, databases or screening tools to help us manage applications and identify potentially suitable candidates. However, we do not make decisions based solely on automated processing where such decisions would have a legal or similarly significant effect on you, unless this is permitted by law and appropriate safeguards are in place.
Security and Operators / Service Providers
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
Where we use third-party service providers, operators or processors to process personal information on our behalf, we require them to process personal information only for authorised purposes and subject to appropriate confidentiality, security and data protection obligations.
Data Breaches
If we become aware of a security compromise involving personal information, we will take reasonable steps to assess and contain the incident and, where required by law, notify affected persons and/or the relevant supervisory authority.
Children
Our website and services are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or legal guardian, unless permitted by law.
