Purpose of Role

To support the delivery of best-in-class financial and sustainability reporting across a growing portfolio of renewable energy assets. This role sits at the intersection of finance, ESG, carbon accounting and investor reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial information, sustainability reporting, climate-related metrics and green finance disclosures across multiple jurisdictions. This opportunity is well suited to a finance professional with strong IFRS expertise, excellent financial controls experience and an interest in supporting the energy transition through robust financial and sustainability reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of finance-owned sustainability and green reporting deliverables, including renewable energy performance, carbon reduction metrics, climate-related disclosures and sustainability KPIs.

  • Work closely with sustainability, operations, asset management and project finance teams to ensure reporting data is accurate, complete and supported by appropriate controls.

  • Prepare reporting packs, reconciliations and analytical reviews relating to renewable generation, green revenue, avoided emissions and environmental performance.

  • Support reporting requirements for investors, lenders, boards, auditors and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor developments in sustainability reporting frameworks and implement improvements to reporting processes where appropriate.

Detailed Duties

Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting:

  • Support the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS.

  • Provide technical accounting support across renewable energy projects, including project finance arrangements, PPAs, grants, environmental certificates and sustainability-linked financing.

  • Maintain strong financial controls across consolidation, intercompany transactions and ESG-related financial reporting.

Performance Reporting & Controls:

  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting activities.

  • Produce management reporting, variance analysis and dashboards linking financial performance with operational renewable energy metrics.

  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting automation, data quality and reporting efficiency.

Audit & Stakeholder Management:

  • Coordinate external audit and assurance requirements relating to financial and sustainability reporting.

  • Build effective relationships with auditors, lenders, investors and senior internal stakeholders.

  • Ensure audit findings and reporting improvements are implemented effectively.

Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Support continuous improvement of finance, consolidation and ESG reporting systems.

  • Develop templates, reporting standards and controls to improve data quality across multiple projects and jurisdictions.

  • Deliver training and guidance to finance and operational teams on reporting requirements and governance.

  • Champion reporting excellence and continuous process improvement.

Treasury & Strategic Support:

  • Support reporting relating to project finance facilities, lender covenants, green finance instruments and intercompany funding.

  • Provide financial analysis supporting investment decisions, portfolio performance and strategic growth initiatives.

Business Partnering:

  • Act as a trusted finance partner to senior stakeholders across finance, operations and development teams.

  • Provide commercial insight and professional challenge to support informed decision-making.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling capability.

  • Experience using ERP, consolidation and reporting platforms.

  • Experience working within complex multi-entity and multi-currency environments.

  • Knowledge of renewable energy, infrastructure or project finance sectors is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and green finance reporting is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.

  • CA(SA) qualification is required.

Experience

  • 5–8 years’ progressive finance experience.

  • Experience gained within renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, project finance, multinational organisations or Big Four audit/advisory environments would be advantageous.

  • Exposure to ESG reporting, sustainability reporting or green finance is highly desirable.
