Position Overview
An established renewable energy company based in Stellenbosch is seeking an experienced Financial Controller / Manager to join its Finance Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for financial control, reporting, compliance and accounting activities across the organisation's Investments and Engineering divisions, while supporting the CFO and Financial Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all entities remain tax compliant across the relevant jurisdictions.
Manage the insurance function, including annual renewals, claims and the addition of assets.
Prepare management accounts, dashboards and presentations for monthly Group reporting.
Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure assets are correctly capitalised in NetSuite.
Prepare Group covenant calculations.
Manage monthly payroll for South African and international investment companies, including EMP201s, EMP501 reconciliations, Workmen's Compensation returns and other statutory requirements.
Review month-end journals, provisions, tax, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, loan accounts and trial balances.
Review supplier payments and approve weekly payments through the relevant banking platforms.
Prepare annual audit files, support external auditors and review annual financial statements.
Assist with tax calculations and tax return submissions.
Support the CFO and Financial Manager with the annual budgeting process.
Drive finance system improvements and automation.
Assist with B-BBEE processes and audits.
Ensure monthly loan repayments are completed on time and review loan schedules for accuracy.
Ensure intergroup debtors, creditors and loans reconcile monthly.
Reconcile the fixed asset register to the general ledger and ensure monthly depreciation is processed correctly in NetSuite.
Provide additional financial support to the Finance Team, CFO and Financial Manager as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Qualified CA(SA).
2–5 years' post-articles experience.
Previous experience in a Financial Controller or Financial Manager role.
Experience managing payroll.
Proven experience preparing management accounts.
Skills & Competencies
Strong financial accounting and reporting capability.
Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and statutory compliance.
Ability to manage financial activities across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage deadlines and multiple financial reporting requirements.
Comfortable working with financial systems and driving process improvements.
Important Note
Applicants must be qualified CA(SA)s with 2–5 years' post-articles experience and previous experience in a Financial Controller or Financial Manager role. Practical experience managing payroll and preparing management accounts is required.
