An energy-economics consultancy is seeking a Senior Analyst to lead financial, tariff and regulatory analysis supporting South Africa’s electricity-market reform.

You will own projects from scoping to delivery, build and review models, guide analysts, and present recommendations to clients and policymakers. The work covers electricity pricing, tariff structures and wholesale market design across commercial and public-interest assignments.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and review financial and electricity tariff models.

  • Analyse electricity pricing, regulation and market reform.

  • Assess commercial, financial and policy implications.

  • Manage project scope, budgets, resources and delivery.

  • Write reports, policy briefs and regulatory submissions.

  • Present findings to clients, funders and regulators.

  • Guide analysts and maintain analytical quality.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, engineering or a related quantitative field.

  • At least five years’ relevant experience, with five to eight years envisaged.

  • Strong knowledge of South Africa’s electricity sector, tariffs and regulation.

  • Proven financial and tariff modelling skills, with strong Excel capability.

  • Understanding of cost-of-supply, cost recovery and electricity-market design.

  • Experience leading analytical projects and presenting findings to decision-makers.

  • Strong report-writing skills.

Python or a comparable programming language is advantageous.
