AltGen is looking for a Senior Project Developer to join a renewable energy developer. The role will be responsible for the development and delivery of a portfolio of renewable energy projects, managing projects through development, financial close, construction and commercial operation. The successful candidate will coordinate commercial, financial, technical and contractor workstreams, while managing senior client and stakeholder relationships. The role can be based in Johannesburg or Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and delivery of a portfolio of renewable energy projects.
Manage project schedules, budgets, risks, resources and key development milestones.
Lead senior client engagements and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Coordinate technical, commercial, financial, legal and contractor workstreams.
Manage external advisers, consultants, contractors and other project partners.
Support commercial structuring, contract strategy and negotiations.
Undertake and review financial and technical analysis, including financial models and project economics.
Progress projects through funding/financial close, construction and commercial operation.
Identify and mitigate commercial, financial, technical and delivery risks.
Support the identification and conversion of new commercial opportunities.
Supervise junior project resources where required.
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of experience in renewable energy project development
Exposure to projects progressing through development, financial close and construction
Bachelor’s degree in a numerical field, including Engineering, Economics, Data Science or similar
Strong commercial and financial/analytical capability
Experience coordinating contractors, consultants and external advisers
