We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to support the delivery of a major utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project.

Based in Oman, the successful candidate will lead and coordinate technical project activities across engineering, procurement, construction, grid integration, commissioning and handover.

This is a senior technical project-delivery position requiring a strong combination of engineering leadership, project management and EPC contractual awareness.

The role requires someone who understands not only whether an engineering solution is technically correct, but also how technical decisions affect the EPC contract, PPA obligations, programme, cost, plant performance and project risk.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate technical project delivery from detailed engineering through construction, commissioning and handover.

  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering workstreams covering Solar PV, BESS, civil, electrical, structural, HV/EHV, SCADA, control and grid infrastructure.

  • Manage the EPC Contractor's engineering deliverables against contractual requirements and the project programme.

  • Drive technical activities and engineering deliverables affecting the project's critical path.

  • Coordinate and resolve multidisciplinary design interfaces, technical queries, deviations and outstanding engineering matters.

  • Ensure engineering and AFC/IFC documentation is delivered in accordance with procurement and construction requirements.

  • Provide technical oversight of utility-scale Solar PV systems, including modules, trackers, foundations, inverters, MV collection systems, transformers and SCADA/PPC.

  • Provide technical oversight of BESS integration, including PCS, BMS, EMS, MV systems, transformers, SCADA, thermal management and fire-safety systems.

  • Oversee technical aspects of HV/EHV substations, transmission infrastructure, protection and grid integration.

  • Coordinate technical interfaces between EPC contractors, Owner's Engineers/consultants, OEMs, suppliers and grid stakeholders.

  • Support technical procurement, equipment evaluation and vendor/OEM management.

  • Participate in critical FAT, SAT and equipment acceptance activities.

  • Provide technical input into EPC variations, claims, design changes, equipment substitutions and change orders.

  • Assess the technical, schedule and performance implications of proposed changes.

  • Ensure technical decisions maintain appropriate EPC design responsibility and contractual risk allocation.

  • Work closely with site/construction leadership to resolve technical issues arising during execution.

  • Identify and manage technical risks and project interfaces.

  • Coordinate technical readiness for energisation and commissioning.

  • Support Solar PV, BESS, substation and grid commissioning activities.

  • Oversee technical aspects of grid compliance and contractual performance testing.

  • Support achievement of COD and final technical handover.

  • Ensure completion of as-built documentation, commissioning records, warranties, O&M documentation and technical handover requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or another relevant Engineering discipline.

  • Approximately 8+ years' experience within renewable energy, power generation or major energy infrastructure projects.

  • Demonstrable experience delivering large utility-scale Solar PV projects, ideally 500 MW+.

  • Strong technical project-management and multidisciplinary engineering experience.

  • Experience working within an IPP, developer, project company, Owner's Engineer or major EPC environment.

  • Strong experience managing EPC contractors and engineering consultants.

  • Good understanding of EPC contracts, technical schedules, Employer's Requirements and contractor design responsibility.

  • Experience managing technical deliverables against project schedules and critical-path requirements.

  • Demonstrable experience across multiple project stages, ideally from engineering/pre-construction through construction, commissioning and handover.

  • Strong understanding of grid integration and utility interfaces.

  • Ability to manage technical matters in terms of their engineering, contractual, schedule, cost and performance implications.
