Position Overview
An established renewable energy developer is seeking an experienced Wind & Sites Manager to lead its Wind & Sites function across utility-scale wind, solar PV and hybrid energy projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering bankable resource assessments, managing measurement campaigns, optimising project layouts and providing technical input that supports project development, technology selection and commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Resource Assessment & Site Optimisation
Lead wind and solar resource assessments, energy yield analyses and uncertainty assessments across the project portfolio.
Design and optimise wind turbine, Solar PV and hybrid project layouts to maximise energy yield while considering environmental, technical and site constraints.
Develop and implement measurement campaign strategies aligned with project objectives and industry best practice.
Measurement Campaign Management
Plan, procure and manage IEC-compliant measurement campaigns, including met masts, LiDAR/RSD systems and solar irradiance monitoring equipment.
Oversee the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and decommissioning of measurement equipment.
Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
Monitor data quality, integrity and reporting to ensure accurate resource assessments.
Technical Support
Procure, coordinate and review independent energy studies and third-party resource assessments.
Engage with OEMs, consultants and technical stakeholders on turbine suitability, solar technology selection and project assumptions.
Support site selection, project development and layout optimisation using GIS/QGIS and related tools.
Contribute technical input to budgets, CAPEX/OPEX estimates, LCOE assessments and project cost estimates.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 5 years' experience within the South African renewable energy sector, including wind resource assessment and measurement campaigns.
Demonstrated experience installing, operating and maintaining met masts, LiDAR/RSD systems and meteorological measurement equipment.
Working knowledge of IEC 61400-50, IEC 61400-12, IEC 61400-1 and associated measurement and data quality standards.
Experience in wind data analysis, wind flow modelling, wake analysis, energy yield forecasting and uncertainty assessments.
Experience using WindPro, WAsP or CFD software is advantageous.
Experience with Solar PV and BESS design or commercial analysis using tools such as pvDesign, PVSyst or Helioscope is advantageous.
Strong report writing, contractor management and technical documentation skills.
Fluent in English.
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel.

Important Note
Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years' renewable energy experience, including proven expertise in wind resource assessment, measurement campaigns and energy yield analysis. Candidates must also demonstrate experience working with IEC-compliant wind measurement systems and possess a valid driver's licence with the ability to travel.
